You reap what you sow

Jim is a Master Practitioner of Applied Movement Neurology and holds Certificates in Applied Functional Science and 3DMAPS from the Gray Institute. His passion is empowering people to help resolve the pain, tension and insomnia that prevents them from living well.

On Saturday morning, I participated in the annual Murph Challenge at SwiftRiver CrossFit to honor Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.

As with all of the “Hero” workouts, Murph is a brutal test:

As fast as you can
1 mile Run
100 Pull-ups
200 Push-ups
300 Squats
1 mile Run

You can break up the pull-ups, push-ups and squats as you like. I choose to do 2 pull-ups, 4 push-ups and 6 squats for 50 rounds. If you think it sounds bad, you are right.

My training has been a bit variable recently. I have had a lot of client appointments in the evenings when I would normally train, so I expected the workout to be extra challenging…and it was. The whole thing took me about 64 minutes, 10 minutes longer than last year.

The upside for me was that I was not frustrated by my lackluster performance. My lack of fitness is merely the result of making other choices recently, choices with which I am happy.

The results you achieve are a reflection of your choices. If you are frustrated with your results, what different choices will you make?

    Congratulations on your workout.
    Right now, I will “try to”…… ( correction )
I will focus on choices .
    Discipline will be a factor.
Maybe that’s what makes the tree in your visual strong enough to reach for the sunlight & moisture in the atmosphere and keep the roots branching deep into the earth to grow tall and beautiful !
