After three months of Movement for Longevity Workshops, Trish and I have learned some valuable lessons:
Pay attention to the time and adapt as needed. Depending on the group and questions that come up, we sometimes spend more time than expected on some drills or movements. To respect people’s time and finish on schedule, it’s important to adjust the remaining segments.
People need notes so they remember how to do the drills after they leave. In a 90-minute workshop, we cover a lot that is new to most people. To use the drills outside our workshops, you need something to jog your memory. We now give a handout each class. This also inspired me to start my video series.
People often underestimate their capabilities. Sometimes we demonstrate a movement and people think it will be too much. Then they try it and realize they can do more than they thought. One of the great things about going to a class is that you tend to try things you would never do on your own.
What healthy habits do you do with others that you won’t do on your own?
PS – August workshops will be on the 10th, 17th and 24th from 9am – 1030. The usual location, Discover Health Functional Medicine Center, 24 Pleasant St, Conway. Join us to improve you balance, strength and ability to move.
