Make it interesting

What’s with starting an article or social media post with, “Make sure you read until the end”? Don’t readers know they are supposed to read the whole thing?

Is it that our attention spans are so short? If so, not sure that “Read until the end” is going to make a difference. I have a better suggestion. Write in such a way that people are interested. If people are interested, they will read until the end.

How do you react when a writer instructs you to read until the end?

It provides a spark of incentive to continue.

Yes, I suppose it works sometimes. Perhaps I am too critical of such techniques.
