When you get a craving, one of the tactics to fend it off is to delay it by telling yourself, “Maybe later.” If you wait long enough, it might pass and you will skip it altogether.
Another route is to decide when you will indulge. If you decide, “I don’t have treats until Friday,” you might avoid the battle of willpower that you are bound to lose eventually.
If you love a good brain-based solution, try playing a highly visual game. When a craving strikes, play Tetris, Candy Crush or another highly visual game. The visual stimulus of the game will overwhelm any treats you were visualizing.
