Over the past month, I’ve been a bit stressed out and over extended. In the first 3 weeks of the New Year, I have had something scheduled every single night and every weekend has been booked as well. As a result, I haven’t been sleeping as well as usual and was feeling a bit run down.
Last weekend, we had houseguests, one of whom arrived with a cold. During the same weekend, I volunteered at a community potluck dinner, helping to rinse and load all of the dirty dishes following dinner. I didn’t really think about this added exposure to germs at the time, but in hindsight, I probably should have had a pair of rubber gloves.
Long story short….by Tuesday of this week, I got sick with a cold. At that point, I bumped up the Vitamin C and started my typical Apple Cider Vinegar, ginger, honey tea regimen but it was a too little, too late and the virus got the upper hand.
I think because I had been doing so well up to this point, I was feeling pretty confident and didn’t really give it much thought when many people around me were catching colds, pneumonia, etc. I know how important sleep is and probably should have taken the advice I often give others about taking extra care of oneself during busy times.
In hindsight, I can see that I let my guard down and discounted the impacts of my stress and recent lack of sleep. Thankfully, I think I’m through the worst of it at this point, but this was a good reminder for me that I need to take better care of myself and not get stretched too thin.
What are you doing to take care of yourself this season?
Good timely tip!
Eat right, sleep, drink water & get fresh air and exercise.
👍🐥 We shall see what the groundhog sees next Sunday!🌤
So glad you’re feeling better, Trish.
