If you want to win, you need to know the rules. You also need to know whether other people are playing by the same rules. If you assume everyone follows the rules, cheaters will catch you flat-footed.

When you’re playing against someone who cheats, winning is a lot harder. You need to think like a cheater to predict what they will do so you can spot it. Calling them on it might be enough to put a stop to it. People tend to behave better when they know someone is watching.

Are you a rule follower? How much do you change your behavior when no one is watching?
