When we are ready to make a change, sometimes all it takes is a little nudge in the right direction to build momentum. I am currently teaching a Nutrition & Healthy Habits small group coaching class.
The recommended homework assignments have been to pick one small daily habit that you want to focus on each week. Some goals that people in the class were targeting included getting to bed at a decent hour each night, adding an extra serving of vegetables to one meal per day, being consistent with taking supplements and walking a mile.
I recently sent around an email to check in with participants between sessions. One of the people in the class sent an enthusiastic reply with all the things she’d accomplished over the course of the week. She had great success with small but powerful daily habits that she was able to do consistently every day! I heard from another participant that he had been consistently doing better with his goal of including vegetables at dinner each night.
Part of their success came from the group dynamic. Knowing that other people are working on similar goals provides a bit of positive peer pressure. Being in the class also provides a bit of accountability as well as ideas from others as to how to accomplish one’s desired outcomes. Each person joined the class because they were ready to make a change in their lives. They just needed a little push in the right direction and encouragement to move forward one step at a time.
What are you ready to accomplish with this little nudge?
I like your “Nutrition & healthy habits” suggestion, and the time is right to accept this challenge. Actually, today went pretty well: vegetables 👍!
Next, will be letting go of Sweet snacks.
