Be honest or be quiet

I remember pretending to like certain things as a kid just to be like my friends. It’s funny when I think about it now. They probably would have accepted me anyway. Otherwise they weren’t very good friends.

Thankfully I learned better as an adult. If you’re honest about your opinion, people often respect you for honesty. If they figure out you’re placating them or pretending, they won’t value your opinion. It’s better to keep quiet than sacrifice your integrity.

Do you tell people what you think they want to hear? Even if you fool them, what if you’re wrong about what they want?
