Being nimble (by Trish)

Written by Trish Chaput

The current situation with the covid-19 pandemic has brought changes in our daily lives, especially since the “stay at home” orders, or similar, that many of our governing officials have enacted.

Some of my friends and family have shifted to working, or learning, from home. Those who are retired have had to postpone planned trips, book club meetings or other social and recreational events. Many of us who are still working outside our homes have made adjustments, as well, either moving many of our business transactions online or otherwise changing the way our face-to-face business happens.

In my community, I have seen our butcher open a “call ahead” drive thru only service, our local restaurants move exclusively to takeout and our local shops offer a “pick it up curbside” approach. It’s amazing how quickly these small businesses are adapting.

Many people, both businesses and customers alike, are navigating a whole new world of online communication, commerce and connection. For some people, changing the way we do business is a huge challenge, for others it is a small change.

The term “nimble” came up today during an online meeting with various healthcare practices. Things are shifting rapidly and we’re all doing the best we can. Those who have pivoted quickly to roll with the changes have been able to continue to serve our neighbors, connect with our community and hopefully, weather this storm.

How have you adapted to the changes around you?
