Forge a new path

I was snowshoeing with Roli and I noticed that he naturally stayed on the path that was there from other people. At one point, we headed off to break a new path and he sometimes did not know which way to go. It was also a lot of work compared to following the path.

Our habits are like this. The things we do every day (good or bad) tend to take very little effort. When you want to do something different, it takes extra effort before the path becomes easier. When someone is “in a rut,” it usually means they are unhappy with the path they are on, but the path is so well-worn that it hard to get out.

If you want to forge a new path, start with one step, then another and another. It is hard at first, but the more consistent you are, the easier it gets. The key is to keep moving forward.

Are you happy with the path you are on, or are you taking the easy route?
