It’s that time of year. Many people are shopping, looking for the perfect gifts. Others are hoping their loved ones know exactly what they want. Some people even specify what they must receive.

A woman I worked with once said her husband “knew he had to” get her something very specific. I thought it was a bit strange. Is it a meaningful gift if he knows he has to get it? When I think back on it now, who was I to judge? If that works well for you, go with it.
