When bad things happen, it might be consoling to think, “It happened for a reason.” Later when things are much better, you can look back and see how tough events led you to a better place. People often point to their toughest times as the keys to their eventual success.

If you doubt that things happen for a reason, what if you act like they do? When you make the best of whatever happens, things often turn out great. When this happens again and again, you may start to believe things don’t happen to us, they happen for us.

“Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors.”

Experiencing adversity is the only thing that prepares us well for handling adversity. What do you have to lose by making the best of whatever happens?
