Nearly 7 years at our flat in London was the longest time I lived in one place after moving out of my childhood home. It was an amazing flat, with wall-to-wall vertical sliding glass doors that led to a private garden. With all of the doors open, the breeze and sounds made it feel like the living room was outside.

Within walking distance, an amazing butcher, green grocer, the best wine store you could ask for and the Hampstead Heath, nearly 800 acres of woods and fields, every dog’s (and many people’s) dream. Also within walking distance, the Church of Handstand, an old church converted to event space where Coach Sainaa holds his classes every week.

It is a wonder we ever left. The only thing missing was family and friends from home. Visits back to the US were expensive, so we only came back every couple of years. In 2016, we came home for two weddings and managed to see lots of friends and family. It made us realize how much we were missing, so we decided to move home.

As much as I miss London, living in the mountains is hard to beat. I daresay this is the best place we have ever lived. Considering how often we have visitors, I think our friends and family agree.

Where is the best place you ever lived?
