Why wait?

Why wait?

We all have one problem or another. Sometimes solutions are expensive and take a long time. Other times, you can take small steps and enjoy immediate benefits.

After getting around to fixing a few things that I had put off, I realized I should have acted sooner. Putting things off often makes things worse. Taking action now leads to peace of mind.

If you could solve a problem with little cost or not much effort, why wait?

PS – sometimes things are easier to fix than expected. Find out what’s involved and then decide whether to wait.

Hopefully, my questions cause you to reflect on your own thinking, relationships or choices. Maybe I even inspire you to make positive changes.

The best planner

The best planner

The best planner, calendar or to do list is the one you will actually use. It doesn’t matter if it’s paper or electronic. What’s important is that you remember to update it regularly and look at it often enough that it reminds you to do things before they’re due. I’ve...

Being nimble (by Trish)

Being nimble (by Trish)

The current situation with the covid-19 pandemic has brought changes in our daily lives, especially since the “stay at home” orders, or similar, that many of our governing officials have enacted. Some of my friends and family have shifted to working, or learning, from...

This too shall pass

This too shall pass

During a recent 21-day meditation challenge, I was asked to reflect on the following parable: There was a king who said to the court sages: "I have a ring with one of the finest diamonds in the world. I want to hide a message under the stone that can be useful in a...

Another try

If you try something that’s supposed to be really good for you and don’t like it, you might need to give it another chance. Maybe you weren’t ready or it wasn’t the right one for you. I tried meditation a couple of different ways and didn’t really notice any benefits....

A tale of two worlds

A tale of two worlds

It’s funny how many videos and memes are going around showing the outlandish things people are doing now that they’re stuck at home for days on end. It’s especially funny to me because I’ve primarily worked from home for the past few years and have already made this...

Why should I believe you?

Why should I believe you?

There are a lot of conspiracy theories going around at the moment. One of things that seems common is that they claim to be an authority and maybe even claim to have scientific evidence. Sometimes these theories are shared by someone you trust. If the source is...

One woman’s “mean”…

Trish and I have a decades long debate about whether my antics are mean or playful. Apparently it’s a matter of perspective. One woman’s mean is another man’s playful. When I playfully share my cold hands or splash her with cold water at the lake, Trish will...

It’s a two-fer! (by Trish)

Since Jim started on his recent mission to rid us of RBF (resting bitch face), it has become a little game we play. We’ll be driving somewhere and I’ll be contemplating something and he’ll suddenly say something silly to make me laugh. “Gotcha!" he exclaims, “I cured...

500!

As my 500th blog post approached, I was really thinking about the costs and benefits of this project. When it comes to benefits, unloading mental baggage that I had not realized was weighing me down is enough to persuade me it's worth it. I feel so mentally free that...

Time’s a wastin

The more you lament that you didn't do something earlier, the more it tells you to do it as soon as possible or let it go. Maybe you should have started painting, playing music, learning a language or trying a new sport years ago. Even more challenging are former...

How’s that working for you?

How’s that working for you?

Coaching begins with finding out where you're at, where you want to go and what you’ve been doing. The most important question about what you’ve been doing is, “How’s that working for you?” If what you’re doing is working well, keep it up and let’s see if there is...

Do what works

Do what works

Looking for the next great thing might be a waste of time. If you have things that work, keep doing them unless they stop working. Ideally, do the important things every day. If you don’t have time to do what’s important, you may want to rethink how you spend your...
