Choose your path

Choose your path

We all have the same amount of time each day even if it doesn’t feel this way. If you don’t have time to do what you want to do, find a way to make different choices. When you’re too busy to follow your dreams, it’s only a matter of time until you end up somewhere you don’t want to be.

What’s one choice you could make today that moves you towards where you want to be?

Hopefully, my questions cause you to reflect on your own thinking, relationships or choices. Maybe I even inspire you to make positive changes.

How many days makes a habit?

How many days makes a habit?

It’s commonly said that it takes 21 days to make a habit. I wish it was that simple. If so, we’d all be a lot closer to our view of perfection. Can you make a new habit in 21 days? Yes, it might be enough for some habits. Things that are simple and don't take a lot of...

Reflecting on mistakes

Reflecting on mistakes

Over the weekend, two podcasts I like approached a question about mistakes from opposite perspectives. I had an immediate response to the first question. The second one took a bit more thought. 1. What's a mistake you’ve made that you want others to avoid? In my 20s...

Break the pattern

Trish, Roli and I went up to the Colebrook area for the weekend. We rented the same house we always do and I saw a bunch of regular clients for Applied Movement Neurology sessions. We also met up with my sister and her husband for dinner at their house. It was a great...

Take care of yourself (by Trish)

Take care of yourself (by Trish)

Over the past month, I’ve been a bit stressed out and over extended. In the first 3 weeks of the New Year, I have had something scheduled every single night and every weekend has been booked as well. As a result, I haven’t been sleeping as well as usual and was...

Start, keep going and finish

Start, keep going and finish

Many of us pursue creative endeavors (e.g., writing, painting, music) that elude our attention. For some, starting is the hard part, others struggle to keep going or just can’t finish. If starting is the hard part, make the most of each time you start. Use your...

An honest self-assessment

An honest self-assessment

I recently realized that I’m not as good at listening as I previously believed. I was involved in two heated debates over the weekend. Upon reflection, both could have been avoided if I had listened more effectively. I’ve also been interrupting people which is almost...

Surprisingly connected

Surprisingly connected

Even though we are spending more time at home and not seeing our friends at the gym or our local shops, I feel like we’re even more connected than usual. Even though we’re physical distancing, we are even more social. Just this weekend, we had multiple Zoom calls with...

Intractable problems

Trish and I have been suffering with eggs sticking to our pans for a while. Our nonstick pans no longer function as intended. We tried seasoning the pans with oil, but no luck. Trish had enough and searched for new solutions. A couple of YouTube videos later and she...

No time like the present

No time like the present

Stuck at home unexpectedly with more free time on your hands? Maybe it’s a good opportunity to do something you've been avoiding. What have you been thinking you would do if you just had the time? Are there books you’ve wanted to read that haven’t got to? Even if...

When there are no words (by Trish)

When there are no words (by Trish)

When people I care about are going through difficult times, I often feel a bit helpless and unsure of what to do. What do I say when there seem to be no right words? How can I help when I don’t have a way to fix their pain? I am an inherent “fixer”… if someone has a...

Growth starts with a new choice

Growth starts with a new choice

Just because you announced something once does not mean you have to abide by that for the rest of your life. A past choice that no longer serves you is best discarded. I can recall a statement made in a moment of pique. “Well, I ‘m never going there again.” When I...
