The power of priority

The power of priority

When you decide what’s most important to you, that priority can be a great guide for making decisions. The more choices you make that align with your priority, the better you feel. Stray from the path and you may feel guilty or rationalize that you’ll get to it eventually.

If you keep making choices that conflict with your declared priority, what does that tell you?

Hopefully, my questions cause you to reflect on your own thinking, relationships or choices. Maybe I even inspire you to make positive changes.

An alien world

An alien world

Sometimes you visit another country that is so different, you instantly know you’re in a completely different culture. The taxi from the airport to our resort was an experience. In addition to your usual bumper to bumper traffic, there were swarms of mopeds weaving in...

Mind-bending time zones

Mind-bending time zones

I left Chocorua on Sunday afternoon and arrived in Bali on Tuesday afternoon. A long flight East across many time zones means that my Monday was spent in the air. I’ve done business trips like this. The first time I filled out my expense report I got really confused....

Pleasant surprise

Pleasant surprise

When this was published, I was on my way to Bali, Indonesia. I was dreading the flights, thinking the first leg was 16 hours and the second leg another 12. When I checked in, I realized the long one is 12 hours and the short one is only 9 hours. Sweet! It’s funny how...

Help create joy

The longest season

The longest season

The amazing lifestyle we have in the mountains comes with a price. Although each of the four seasons is of equal length, winter feels longer than the others. Cold weather and snow often come in mid-autumn, making it feel like winter. Early spring snow is also common...

As a health coach, I help keep my clients accountable with the changes they are trying to make. One of the ways we do this is through a food diary. This can be done with pen & paper, on the computer or simply taking a photo of what they eat. This simple tool has...

An objective view

For some decisions, it can be helpful to have an objective view. If you have your heart set on a big purchase, it’s even more reason to get another view. It might help you get a better deal. Even if it doesn’t, at least you’ll know what you’re getting yourself into....

Change up your rotation

Change up your rotation

It’s easy to get into a routine. We tend to enjoy the same food, music and wine every week. It takes some effort to break the cycle and keep things fresh. We have a rotation of meals that we eat just about every every week. Occasionally one of us finds a new recipe to...
