If you want to increase your chances of achieving your goals, focus on the process not the outcome. Start with the outcome in mind, then think about the behaviors that are likely to lead to that outcome. Some of these behaviors probably build on each other, so keep whittling down your list until you find the behavior that you can start today.
Outcome – use an affirmative statement that reflects your future achievement
Behaviors – identify the things you imagine someone who has achieved your goal must have done
Process – determine actions to be taken every day
Here is an example:
Outcome – I look and feel great and I love the way my clothes fit
Behaviors – eat slowly to 80% full, eat whole foods, exercise regularly, sleep about 8 hours per night
Process ideas (choose one or the other or make up your own)
1. Eat whole foods and you will feel better. When you feel better, you will move more and sleep better. Your whole life improves as you slim down…. OR
2. Start walking or going to the gym a few days per week. To make the most of this, you start watching what you eat and notice you start sleeping better. A different start, but you get a similar result as above.
Progress increases motivation, so start small and keep it going. If you need guidance, comment below or send me a message.
