Many of us pursue creative endeavors (e.g., writing, painting, music) that elude our attention. For some, starting is the hard part, others struggle to keep going or just can’t finish.
If starting is the hard part, make the most of each time you start. Use your momentum and do as much as you can. Then end on a high note to give yourself a good feeling about starting again.
If you struggle to keep going once you start, best to start frequently. Many short sessions can add up to as much or more as an occasional long session. Start a streak and keep it going.
What if you struggle to finish? Maybe you need a deadline that you share with someone else. “I’ll publish a new blog post each day.” or “I’ll show you my painting when you come over.” Alternatively, set small milestones that allow you to mark “finished” more often.
What’s the hardest part of the process for you?
