I had an amusing experience with my wifi this week. It reminded me that the simplest solution is sometimes best.

My router is in the basement, but I work on the ground floor. A few months ago, my wireless signal seemed a bit variable. so I bought a wifi extender. The connection was more robust, but the speed still seemed slower than normal. Resetting the router did not seem to help.

A few days ago, Spectrum called me to ask about my speed (and try to sell me stuff). I told them it was slow and they suggested I bring my router to the store for a new one. I already bought my own super fast one because theirs was unreliable.

Then I had a thought. Maybe the wifi extender is the weak link. I unplugged it and then connected to the fast channel of my router. Shockingly, my download speed then tested the fastest I have ever seen it. It makes me wonder whether the reset of my router is all I needed to begin with. Oops.

Have you ever searched for solutions only to discover a simple fix was there all along?
