If indulging a little causes you to overindulge, it might be better to skip it altogether.

One of the ways Trish and I avoid temptation is thoughtful shopping. We rarely buy the foods that are overly tempting. It’s easier to make a good decision at the store than at home. Once it’s in the house, it’s only a matter of time.

At one point, I limited special treats from the local bakery to Fridays. Then I started occasionally having them on other days. Pretty soon it was a regular thing. The more you do something, the more normal it becomes.

Writing this is a great reminder that I need to reset my normal. Back to healthy choices every day, with an occasional treat. If that doesn’t work, maybe it’s time to skip those treats altogether.

Do you have any indulgences for which a little is too much?
